Empty leg flights from Toulon-Hyères

Toulon-Hyères is the quiet way into the Var. It serves Saint-Tropez, Porquerolles, Bormes and the whole stretch of coast between Marseille and the Esterel, and it does so without the summer congestion of Nice. Charter into the Var peaks hard in July and August, and each of those paid flights leaves a sector to be flown back out — which is what puts empty leg flights on this board.

Which airport for Saint-Tropez and the Var

Three fields cover this coast, and picking the wrong one costs an hour or more:

• Toulon-Hyères (TLN) is the practical choice for Hyères, Bormes, Le Lavandou and the Porquerolles ferry, and a reasonable run to Saint-Tropez.
• La Môle – Saint-Tropez (LTT) is far closer to Saint-Tropez itself but has a short runway and restrictions that rule out most midsize and all heavy jets.
• Nice Côte d’Azur (NCE) has the most movements and the widest choice of dates, but it is a long drive west in August traffic.

If a listing shows Toulon and your destination is Saint-Tropez, it is usually still the better option than waiting for La Môle.
