Bombardier Challenger 604 empty legs

No single operator owns the 604 on this board. Its repositioning flights come from a long list of fleets in Canada, the United States and Europe, which makes it one of the more dependable heavy jets to watch.

Bombardier Challenger 604

Quebec and Ontario first

Toronto to Montreal is the regular, Montreal to Bromont in the Eastern Townships the short seasonal hop, and Quad City to Lehigh Valley the American midwest equivalent. Around those the 604 turns up from Florida to Farnborough. For a Canadian traveller in particular, this and the 605 are the two heavy jets most worth an alert.

Prices, sometimes

A meaningful minority of 604 legs carry the operator's figure, more than the heavy Gulfstreams and fewer than the light Citations. Notice is a little over a week as a rule. The record block above gives the share and, where enough legs allow, the median.

The widest cabin of its generation

Eight feet across at the shoulder, with a flat floor and standing headroom, the 604 offered a cabin its rivals could not match when it arrived in the mid 1990s, and the 605 and 650 kept it. Twelve seats is a typical charter fit. Specification: Challenger 604 specifications.

Bombardier Challenger 604: specification and background

The 604 of 1995 was the first Challenger with General Electric CF34-3B engines, a new wing structure and enough fuel for 4,000 nm, and it turned a 1970s design into a genuinely transatlantic heavy jet. The cabin, at over eight feet wide, was and remains the widest of any aircraft in its class. Bombardier built 365 before the 605 succeeded it in 2006, and a great many still fly charter, from a broad spread of operators on this board.
