A line starts at the departure airport the operator named, or at an airport in the departure city when only the city was given, and ends the same way at the destination. Legs the operator described by city alone are drawn at city level. Prices are the operator's own figure for the whole aircraft.
The lines are one way: an empty leg is an aircraft repositioning, and the operator sells that single flight, not a return. Clusters mean an operator is busy in that area; Teterboro, Van Nuys, Nice and London are where most lines start or end. A single line across an ocean is usually a long range jet going home.
The map refreshes with the board, several times a day. To be told when a leg appears on a route you care about, set a route alert. To see the same data as a table, use the live list, or take it as a file from open data.
