About Empty Leg List

Empty Leg List collects empty leg flights that charter operators publish on their own websites and puts them in one place, so you can see what is actually flying without opening twenty tabs.

The figures on this page are read from the live board as the page loads, so they are never a snapshot of an older week.

What an empty leg is

When a charter aircraft flies somewhere to collect a client, or flies home after dropping one off, that flight happens with nobody in the cabin. The operator has already paid for it. Selling those seats at a discount is better than flying empty, so operators publish them. The catch is that the operator sets the route, the date and the aircraft. You are fitting into a flight that already exists.

Where it stands today

These figures come from the board as this page loads. They move every day, which is the whole point of the thing.

• 2,264 upcoming empty legs, from 74 charter operators, 721 of them carrying the operator's published price.
• 1,638 distinct routes and 487 departure cities. North America 1,619 flights, Europe 380, the rest spread across Africa, the Middle East, Oceania, South America and Asia.
• 137 aircraft types on the board right now.
• Read three times a day, at 07:35, 13:35 and 19:35.

Behind that sits the part that is harder to copy: 8,091 empty legs recorded since 31 July 2026, including every one that was listed and then went. 612 of them left the board inside a day. That record is what the guides, the aircraft pages and the route predictions are written from.

What we do

• We check operator websites several times a day and record the flights they publish.
• We show each flight the way it was listed: route, date, aircraft, seats and the operator's own price.
• We convert prices into a handful of common currencies as a rounded approximation, and the original listed figure stays one tap away behind the information icon.
• We group flights by route and by aircraft type so you can find the ones that fit.
• We pass your enquiry to operators covering that route.

What you can do with it

• Search the board by city, dates, aircraft type, seats, region, month and price range, in EUR, USD, GBP, CHF or CAD.
• Set an alert on two cities and we email you the hour an operator lists a matching leg. Free, and it is the only sensible way to catch one: half the flights on some types are published within five days of departure.
• Read the pages: 95 city pages, 119 route pages, 55 aircraft type pages and 8 guides, each written from the record rather than from the industry's usual figures. Where a number appears, the sample size is next to it.
• Look ahead: 21 event pages for the weeks that move private aircraft, and route predictions written a week before the flights exist, scored in public afterwards, misses included.
• See it on a map: every flight on the board drawn as a line, gold where the operator published a price.

What we are not

We are not an air carrier and we do not operate aircraft. We are not a licensed charter broker and we are not a party to any booking. Nothing on this site is an offer to sell a flight. Whatever you agree is agreed between you and the operator, under their terms, and they are the ones who carry the operating licence and the insurance.

We take no commission on flights arranged through enquiries made here.

Where the data comes from

Every listing is copied from a flight the operator published publicly. We record when we last saw it, and each route and aircraft page shows that timestamp. Availability still changes without notice: an empty leg can be sold, cancelled or rescheduled between our last check and your enquiry, because the underlying charter it depends on can change. Treat every listing as a strong indication, not a guarantee.

Prices are shown as the operator listed them. Where a listing carries no price we say so rather than inventing one.

Who runs it

Empty Leg List is operated by Publishing Office SRL, the team behind The Flying Engineer, an aviation directory listing more than 3,000 companies across 56 countries. It is built and written by Radu Balas, more than a decade in aviation. That is how it came about: the information existed, it was just scattered across dozens of operator websites and it disappeared when a flight sold.
