One way empty legs between San Francisco and Van Nuys, exactly as the operators list them. The operator confirms availability and the price with you directly.
Straight line distance between the two cities. Actual routing and flight time depend on the aircraft and the airports.
San Francisco to Los Angeles is one of the densest business aviation corridors in the United States, and Van Nuys, in the San Fernando Valley, takes most of the Los Angeles end of it. The sector is roughly 280 nautical miles and about an hour in the air.
Two operators account for the five legs we have on record. Call a Jet put up two in early August, a Challenger 300 and a Learjet 60. Silver Air put up three more on 1 September, for the 7th, 8th and 9th, three consecutive days on two aircraft.
The reverse, Van Nuys to San Francisco, has five legs of its own, and Silver Air's Citation CJ3 and Challenger 350 both appear on each side. This is a small fleet moving up and down the state rather than a scheduled shuttle.
Not one of the five carries a published price. Every leg on this corridor says price on request, so we show nothing rather than guess.
Within a week or so. Silver Air put its three legs on the board on 1 September for departures six, seven and eight days later. Call a Jet's two first appear in our record on 1 August, four and eight days before they flew, and 1 August is the first day we hold for that operator, so those two figures are a floor rather than a measurement. Nothing on this corridor has been listed more than eight days before it flies.
Approximate corridor between San Francisco and Van Nuys. Operators fly the sector direct; the airports each listing uses are shown on the flight itself.
Van Nuys is quick for the Valley and the west side of Los Angeles and slow for anywhere south of downtown. On an hour long flight the drive at the far end is often the longer half of the journey.
Between 31 July and 3 September 2026 we recorded 5 empty legs from San Francisco to Van Nuys. None of them carried a published price: every operator on this corridor lists it on request. Each one was about an hour in the air, on four types, from a Citation CJ3 to a Challenger 350.
| Departure | Aircraft | Seats | Operator's published price | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 Aug 2026 | Challenger 300 | 9 | On request | Already flown |
| 9 Aug 2026 | Learjet 60 | 7 | On request | Already flown |
| 7 Sept 2026 | Citation CJ3 | 7 | On request | On the board now |
| 8 Sept 2026 | Citation CJ3 | 6 | On request | On the board now |
| 9 Sept 2026 | Challenger 350 | 9 | On request | On the board now |
The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.
No operator on this corridor publishes a price. All five legs say price on request, so the figure comes from the operator when you ask and we show nothing rather than guess.
Seats are stated on all five, from six to nine. Silver Air publishes its own block time on its three legs, 1 hour 6 minutes on the Citation CJ3 and 1 hour flat on the Challenger 350; the two Call a Jet legs carry no time, so the figure on this page is worked from the great circle distance. Ask the operator three things: whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and which Bay Area field you are leaving from.
San Francisco to Van Nuys empty legs are posted days ahead, not months. Leave your email and we watch both directions for you, San Francisco to Van Nuys and Van Nuys to San Francisco, and send you nothing else.
