Why this route produces empty legs

Scottsdale to Aspen is about 415 nautical miles from Scottsdale Airport to Aspen-Pitkin County, and the legs that publish a block time run an hour twelve to an hour twenty four. It is the Sonoran desert to the Colorado Rockies in a little over an hour.

Five legs, five different operators. Thrive Aviation, Jet OUT, Jetvia, Lone Star Aviators and Pinnacle Aviation Charter flew one each, and no fleet repeats on this corridor anywhere in our record. That is the strongest thing about this page: five independent operators arriving at the same repositioning problem, rather than one operator running something close to a shuttle.

Scottsdale is a large origin and Aspen is a small part of it. Scottsdale produces 22 destinations with four or more recorded legs, led by Las Vegas at 22 and Van Nuys at 13. Aspen is one of seven Scottsdale destinations tied at five. The honest framing is that Scottsdale is busy and this particular corridor is thin, not that it is a main artery.

Aspen's own inbound traffic is dominated by somewhere else entirely. Las Vegas sends 20 recorded legs into Aspen, more than twice the next origin. Colorado Springs and Austin send eight each, Dallas seven, and Scottsdale is one of three tied at five. Aspen pulls aircraft in from across the southwest and the Rockies, and Scottsdale is one feeder among many.

When they show up

Five movements on four dates between 10 September and 10 October 2026. Two of the five left on the same day, 10 October, from two different operators on two very different aircraft, and the pricing section below is mostly about what that pair shows.

One was still on the board when this page was built, the 10 October Pinnacle Aviation Charter Challenger 605. Five legs in a month is a trickle rather than a pattern, so the route alert is worth more than checking the page.

The airports on this route

One of the five legs names no airport at either end, so the field counts above do not add to five. That one is Thrive Aviation, and the reason is in the section below. The question worth asking on this corridor is about the Aspen end rather than the Scottsdale end. Sardy Field sits at 7,820 feet in a mountain valley and both of the fallback fields above are lower and further away by road, so what the operator does if the aircraft cannot use Aspen on the day is something to settle before you book rather than something a listing answers. One count needs explaining: the record holds seven rows for these five flights, because the 1 October Jet OUT Citation CJ4 and the 9 October Jetvia Learjet 60 were each listed twice. The 10 October pair are two genuinely different flights by two different operators.

Every leg we have on record for this route

Between 31 July and 8 October 2026 we recorded 5 empty legs from Scottsdale to Aspen. 3 of them carried a published price, from USD 4,500 to USD 8,100 for the whole aircraft. Three of the five publish a block time, an hour twelve on the Learjet 60 and the Challenger 605 and an hour twenty four on the Citation V. Four publish a seat count, from seven to ten. Thrive Aviation publishes neither.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we saw on this corridor in that window, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

Three of the five legs carry a published price, from USD 4,500 to USD 8,100 for the whole aircraft, and two of those three were for the same day.

On 10 October, Lone Star Aviators listed a Citation V at USD 4,500 and Pinnacle Aviation Charter listed a Challenger 605 at USD 8,100. Same corridor, same date, USD 3,600 apart. The difference is the aircraft rather than the route: seven seats against ten, a light jet against a large cabin one. Neither number is the price of this corridor. They are the prices of two different aircraft that happened to need the same repositioning on the same day.

All three operators who priced here price everything they list, and their figures move. Lone Star Aviators has published a price on all 470 of its recorded listings, across 85 different figures. Pinnacle on all 81, across 42. Jetvia, whose USD 7,200 on 9 October sits between the two, prices 2,095 of its 2,210 listings but across only 60 distinct figures, so it repeats itself far more than the other two. Read the Lone Star and Pinnacle numbers as rates for those aircraft on that day.

The two legs with no price are the weak rows on this page. Jet OUT has published a price on none of its 1,553 recorded listings. Thrive Aviation on none of its 1,226, and it carries no airport code on a single one of them and no seat count on this one, so its row records that a Citation Longitude flew the corridor and nothing more. Ask the operator which Arizona field you are leaving from, whether the departure time can still move, and what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through.
