Why this route produces empty legs

Houston is the busiest destination Austin produces on our board. Of the 24 departures we have recorded from Austin, six went to Houston, four to Fort Worth and three to Waukesha, and no other destination reached three. The sector is 105 nautical miles, short enough that an aircraft flies it and turns straight round, which is what leaves one of the two legs empty.

All six come from one operator, Lone Star Aviators, which entered our record on 8 September 2026. It is the only operator in our whole collection that publishes a price, a seat count, a block time and a tail number on every listing it makes: all 90 of its rows carry all four. That is why the table below is full where most of our route pages have to leave columns empty.

Three airframes cover the six legs rather than one aircraft working through its calendar. N242SG, a Pilatus PC-12 NG, takes three. N480RL, a Cessna Citation V, takes two. N567RW, a Cessna Citation Ultra, takes the sixth.

Southbound is the cheaper direction on the same metal. N242SG is listed at USD 1,400 into Houston and USD 1,800 coming back out, and N567RW at USD 2,000 into Houston and USD 2,300 out. The same pattern holds on this operator's Dallas corridor, where the Citation Ultra is USD 2,300 and USD 2,600 into Houston against USD 2,900 leaving it.

When they show up

All at once, on a forward calendar. Every one of the six entered our record on 8 and 9 September 2026, with departure dates spread from 10 September to 15 November. Nothing on this corridor turned up with a day to spare.

That also sets the limit on what this page can tell you. Six legs published in two days is a thinner history than six collected over six weeks, and there is nothing in our record on this corridor before September. If the pattern holds, the next batch arrives the same way rather than one leg at a time.

The route on a map

The airports on this route

The aircraft decides which side of Houston you land on. All three Pilatus PC-12 NG legs arrive at West Houston and all three jet legs at Hobby, and the two are on opposite sides of the metropolitan area. The computed distance on this page uses Bergstrom to West Houston, the pair on three of the six; Bergstrom to Hobby is about 130 nautical miles on the same coordinates. On a sector this short the field at each end decides more of your door to door time than the flight does.

Reading the record.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we have recorded on this corridor, read when you opened this page, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Austin to Houston in the record

Every leg we have recorded between Austin and Houston, in either direction, since 30 July 2026, whether it is still on the board or not. A leg leaves the board when the operator stops publishing it, and we cannot tell from outside whether it was sold or withdrawn, so these are counts of what was listed, not of what flew.

Legs by departure month

One bar per calendar month, from the first month in our record to the furthest date an operator has published so far. Grey bars are months already past, gold is this month and the months ahead. A blank month is a month we have no record for, and before August 2026 that means we were not yet recording. The months ahead hold only what operators have published up to now, and most empty legs appear days or weeks before departure, so those bars will keep growing. The shape says how far ahead operators publish, not how busy a month will be.

Each row is a pair of airports as the operator named them, in the direction flown. Both directions of the corridor are counted. An operator that names only the city leaves us the city, which is why some rows are city names.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

All six carry a published price and they fall into two clear tiers: USD 1,400 on each of the three Pilatus PC-12 NG legs and USD 2,000 on each of the three jet legs, two Cessna Citation Vs and one Cessna Citation Ultra. Every one of those is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft, not a per seat fare.

Seats are published on all six and every one says seven, so the aircraft changes the price and the airport here but not the cabin. All six carry a tail number as well, which means you can see the individual airframe rather than only the type.

Published block times split with the aircraft: 36 minutes on all three jet legs and 48 minutes on all three Pilatus legs. Each of those is six minutes shorter than the same airframe's published time in the other direction.

Ask the operator three things: whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and which Houston field you are landing at, because two appear on this corridor and they are on opposite sides of the city.
