Why this route produces empty legs

Calgary is where almost everything leaving Kelowna goes. Of the nine departures we have recorded from Kelowna, six went to Calgary and the other three all went to Sault Ste Marie. There is no third destination in our record at all, which makes this the Kelowna corridor rather than one of several.

Three operators list it and no single fleet owns it. Air Partners takes three of the six, all of them the same Gulfstream G150, C-GAFK. Chartright Air Group takes two and Sunwest Aviation one. Four aircraft types appear across the six legs.

Eastbound is quicker and cheaper than westbound. Every one of the five legs here that publishes a block time says 42 minutes; going out to Kelowna the same operators publish 48 or 54 over the same 215 nautical miles. The one airframe listed in both directions, Sunwest's Bombardier Learjet 45 C-GPDB, is CAD 4,200 coming into Calgary and CAD 5,500 going out.

One pair of dates lines up as an out and back. Chartright lists a Challenger 300 from Kelowna to Calgary on 3 January 2027 at CAD 6,400 and the same aircraft type from Calgary to Kelowna on 10 January 2027 at CAD 8,100. A week on the ground between the two, and it is the only such pairing on this corridor in our record.

When they show up

In ones, never in bunches. The six legs run from 13 August 2026 to 3 January 2027 and no two share a date. One has already flown and the other five are still on the board.

Notice runs from five days to nearly four months. The August leg was published thirteen days ahead. The four autumn legs all entered our record on 8 September 2026, putting them between five and thirty one days out, and the January leg arrived on 7 September, a hundred and eighteen days ahead.

The airports on this route

Five of the six listings name Kelowna International and Calgary International, and that is the pair the computed distance on this page uses. The sixth, a Chartright Challenger 300 for January 2027, names only the two cities and publishes neither a field nor a seat count.

Every leg we have on record for this route

Between 31 July and 9 September 2026 we recorded 6 empty legs from Kelowna to Calgary. 2 of them carried a published price, from CAD 4,200 to CAD 6,400 for the whole aircraft. Five of the six publish a block time and every one of them says 42 minutes in the air, on four types, a Gulfstream G150 three times and a Dassault Falcon 2000LX, a Bombardier Learjet 45 and a Bombardier Challenger 300 once each.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we saw on this corridor in that window, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

Two of the six carry a published price: a Sunwest Aviation Bombardier Learjet 45 at CAD 4,200 for 9 October and a Chartright Challenger 300 listed at CAD 6,400 for 3 January. Both are the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. The other four say price on request.

Seats are published on five of the six: seven on each of the three Gulfstream G150 legs, eight on the Learjet 45 and ten on the Dassault Falcon 2000LX. The January Challenger 300 listing publishes no seat count and no block time.

Every published block time on this corridor is the same, 42 minutes, on all five legs that carry one. That is shorter than anything published in the other direction, where the same operators list 48 or 54 minutes over the same ground.

Ask the operator three things: whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and, if your dates are open either way, compare with Calgary to Kelowna first, because the one aircraft listed in both directions is CAD 1,300 dearer going the other way.
