Why this route produces empty legs

San Diego International to Harry Reid International is about 225 nautical miles, and the one leg on this corridor that publishes a block time gives one hour six minutes. Las Vegas appears in more of our listings than any city except Teterboro, 983 of them against Teterboro's 1,214, and it is a place aircraft arrive at full and leave empty. That is why a corridor into Las Vegas produces repositioning flights steadily even from a city as close as San Diego.

Eleven of the twelve legs belong to one operator, Thrive Aviation. That matters more here than the leg count does, because Thrive publishes the aircraft type and nothing else. On none of those eleven legs is there a seat count, an airport at either end, a block time or a price. The twelfth leg, an eight seat Embraer Phenom 300 from Elite Jets on 16 September, is the only one on this page that names San Diego International and Harry Reid and the only one with a published block time.

The aircraft are varied even if the paperwork is not. Across the twelve legs there are eight different aircraft names, from a Citation CJ3+ and a Phenom 300 at the light end up to a Gulfstream G450, a Falcon 900EX EASy, a Challenger 604 and a Citation Longitude. Four of the twelve are a Citation CJ3+, which is the aircraft this corridor produces most often.

What this page cannot tell you is which airports. Only one of the twelve legs names a field at either end, and it used San Diego International and Harry Reid International. Las Vegas has a second field that appears all over the rest of this site, Henderson Executive, so the computed distance here uses San Diego International to Harry Reid, the pair that single leg used, and the other eleven could be landing at either.

When they show up

Twelve legs on eleven dates between 12 August and 20 December 2026, with 13 September carrying two. September is the busiest month with six legs, and after 22 September the corridor goes quiet for three and a half weeks.

Three were on the board when this page was built, one had been withdrawn and eight have flown. Notice varied enormously, from one day to seventy eight, which is what you would expect when a single operator is listing its own repositioning as soon as it knows about it. The route alert below is the only practical way to catch the short notice ones.

The airports on this route

The two Las Vegas fields are a genuine difference on a flight of just over an hour. Harry Reid puts you at the Strip but shares its airspace and its ground congestion with one of the busiest airline airports in the country. Henderson Executive is quieter and faster through the gate and about twenty minutes further out. Since most listings on this corridor name neither, ask.

Every leg we have on record for this route

Between 31 July and 18 October 2026 we recorded 12 empty legs from San Diego to Las Vegas. None of them carried a published price: every operator on this corridor lists it on request. One of the twelve publishes a block time, one hour six minutes, and the same one is the only leg with a seat count. The other eleven publish the aircraft type and nothing else.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we saw on this corridor in that window, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Before you book

No operator on this corridor publishes a price. All twelve legs say price on request, so the figure comes from the operator when you ask and we show nothing rather than guess at one.

This is among the most thinly documented corridors we have built a page for. Thrive Aviation publishes no price on any of its 1,518 listings on this board across 712 city pairs, and no seat count or airport on the eleven legs here either. Elite Jets publishes no price on any of its 221 listings but did give seats, both airports and a block time on its one leg. So on eleven of the twelve legs the aircraft type is all you get before you pick up the telephone.

One of the twelve publishes a seat count, the eight seat Phenom 300, and the same leg is the only one with a block time. None of the twelve publishes a tail number. That is not a fault in the record, it is what the operators put out.

Ask which Las Vegas field you are landing at, how many seats the aircraft actually has, whether the departure time can still move, and what happens if the paid flight behind the positioning leg falls through. On this corridor expect to ask all four, because almost none of it is published.
