Why this route produces empty legs

Houston is the busiest destination Dallas produces on our board. Of the 30 departures we have recorded from Dallas, six went to Houston and the next busiest, Aspen, had three. Nothing else reached three at all.

All six legs come from one operator, Lone Star Aviators, and all six publish a price, a seat count, a block time and a tail number. That combination is rare in our data: this is the only operator in our record that carries all four fields on every listing it makes, all 90 of them.

Five different tail numbers appear across the six legs. Two Cessna Citation Ultras, N567RW and N566KB, take one each. Two Pilatus PC-12 NGs, N946RB and N242SG, take three between them, with N242SG listed twice. A Bombardier Challenger 604, N813JA, takes the sixth.

Southbound is consistently cheaper than northbound on the same metal. The Citation Ultra is USD 2,300 and USD 2,600 leaving Dallas and USD 2,900 on all four of its Houston to Dallas legs. The Challenger 604 is USD 5,200 southbound and USD 5,900 northbound. If your dates are open in both directions, the difference is worth several hundred dollars.

Both directions, up to 20 flights, with the price exactly as the operator published it.

When they show up

All at once. Every one of the six entered our record on 8 September 2026, with departure dates spread from 24 September to 19 December. This is a forward calendar published in a single go rather than repositioning that turned up at short notice, so nothing here appeared with a day to spare.

That also sets the limit on what this page can tell you. Six legs published on one day is a thinner history than six legs collected over six weeks, and the corridor has nothing in our record before September. The reverse direction, Houston to Dallas, holds thirteen and reaches back to August.

The route on a map

Approximate corridor between Dallas and Houston. Operators fly the sector direct; the airports each listing uses are shown on the flight itself.

The airports on this route

Three different Houston fields appear across six legs and they are a long way from each other. Hobby is south east of downtown, West Houston is on the far west side and Conroe is forty miles north, so which one the listing names decides your drive more than the flight decides your day. The computed distance on this page uses Love Field to Hobby, the pair that appears most often.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we saw on this corridor in that window, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

All six carry a published price, which is unusual on our board, and the range is USD 2,300 to USD 5,200 for the whole aircraft. The two Cessna Citation Ultra legs are USD 2,300 and USD 2,600, the three Pilatus PC-12 NG legs are USD 2,400 each, and the single Bombardier Challenger 604 is USD 5,200.

Seats are published on all six as well: seven on the Citation Ultra and the PC-12 NG, ten on the Challenger 604. So are block times, which run from 42 minutes to 1 hour 12 minutes over 210 nautical miles.

If your dates are flexible, read this page against Houston to Dallas before you commit. The same operator lists thirteen legs in that direction and its published figure is higher on every aircraft type the two directions share.

Ask the operator three things: whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and which Houston field you are landing at.
