Why this route produces empty legs

Dallas is the busiest destination Houston produces on our board and it is not close. Of the 56 departures we have recorded from Houston, 13 went to Dallas, against six for Las Vegas and five for Austin. The sector is 210 nautical miles, short enough that a corporate aircraft flies it and turns straight round, which is what leaves the return empty.

Eleven of the thirteen legs come from a single operator, Lone Star Aviators, which entered our record on 8 September 2026. It is the only operator in our whole collection that publishes a price, a seat count, a block time and a tail number on every listing it makes: all 90 of its rows carry all four. That is why the table below is full where most of our route pages have to leave columns empty.

Those eleven legs are flown by five different airframes, not one aircraft working through its calendar. N567RW, a Cessna Citation Ultra, accounts for four of them. N813JA, a Bombardier Challenger 604, and N590MC, a Bombardier Challenger 300, take two each, and two Pilatus PC-12 NGs, N946RB and N242SG, take the rest.

The other two legs are older and come from a different operator. Thrive Aviation listed a Cessna Citation Longitude on 17 and 18 August 2026, both since flown, and neither carried a price, a seat count or an airport code. So the corridor is not one operator alone, but almost everything you can actually read on this page comes from one.

When they show up

Mostly on a forward calendar rather than at short notice. Eleven of the thirteen entered our record on 8 and 9 September 2026 with departure dates running from 10 September to 10 December, which is an operator publishing three months of repositioning in one go.

The two August legs behaved the other way. The 17 August leg was published on 5 August, twelve days ahead, and the 18 August leg on 13 August, five days ahead. Both patterns exist on this corridor, and the route alert is the only way to catch the short notice kind.

The route on a map

Approximate corridor between Houston and Dallas. Operators fly the sector direct; the airports each listing uses are shown on the flight itself.

The airports on this route

The listings name a city and then a specific field, and they do not all use the same one. Ten of the eleven coded legs run Hobby to Love Field, which is the pair the computed distance on this page uses. The two Thrive Aviation legs name no field at either end. On a sector this short the airport at each end decides more of your door to door time than the flight does, so confirm it before you plan the drive.

Every leg we have on record for this route

Between 5 August and 9 September 2026 we recorded 13 empty legs from Houston to Dallas. 11 of them carried a published price, from USD 2,400 to USD 5,900 for the whole aircraft. Eleven of the thirteen publish a block time and they run from 48 minutes to 1 hour 24 minutes in the air, on five types, a Cessna Citation Ultra four times, a Pilatus PC-12 NG three times, a Bombardier Challenger 300 and a Bombardier Challenger 604 twice each and a Cessna Citation Longitude twice.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we saw on this corridor in that window, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

Eleven of the thirteen carry a published price and they fall into two clear tiers. The Cessna Citation Ultra is listed at USD 2,900 on all four of its legs, the Pilatus PC-12 NG at USD 2,400 and USD 2,600, and both the Bombardier Challenger 300 and the Challenger 604 at USD 5,900. Every one of those is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft, not a per seat fare.

Seat counts are published on the same eleven: seven on the Citation Ultra and the PC-12 NG, nine on the Challenger 300 and ten on the Challenger 604. The two Thrive Aviation legs publish neither a price nor a seat count, which is why two rows in the table read Not stated across three columns.

Published block times run from 48 minutes to 1 hour 24 minutes over the same 210 nautical miles. The three longest are the PC-12 NG legs, so the aircraft on the listing changes the time in the air by more than half an hour on a sector this short.

Ask the operator three things: whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and which Houston and Dallas fields the listing actually uses, since five different airports appear across this corridor.
