Why this route produces empty legs

Fort Worth Meacham to Austin Bergstrom is about 160 nautical miles, and the five listings here that publish a block time give between 42 and 48 minutes. Meacham is the general aviation field north of downtown Fort Worth, and at the far end Austin appears as two separate airports rather than one.

Five operators across eleven legs. Jet OUT has six of them, all on the same eight seat Citation CJ4. Saturn Aviation has two, and Jet Linx Aviation, Executive Air Services and Northeastern Aviation have one each. Five operators on eleven legs is the signature of separate aircraft repositioning on their own schedules rather than one operator running a shuttle.

It runs both ways, unevenly. We hold eleven legs from Fort Worth to Austin against seven coming back, out of 127 recorded departures from Fort Worth and 150 recorded arrivals into Austin. Rather more aircraft run down to Austin empty than return that way.

The aircraft get larger as the weeks go on. Every leg to 27 September is the same eight seat Citation CJ4. From 4 October the corridor shows a thirteen seat Dassault Falcon 900EX EASy twice, then a Bombardier Challenger 300, a Bombardier Lear 60 and a Beechcraft Beechjet 400A. The later half of this record is a different set of aeroplanes from the first.

When they show up

Eleven legs on eleven dates between 17 August and 25 October 2026, arriving in ones and twos every one to two weeks. The only consecutive pair is 4 and 5 October, both of them the same Falcon 900EX EASy.

Two were still on the board when this page was built, 18 October to Austin Executive and 25 October to Bergstrom. The other nine have flown and not one was withdrawn. Notice varies widely: the legs went on the board between nought and 28 days before departure, and the 8 October Challenger 300, the only priced leg here, was listed on the morning it flew.

The route on a map

The airports on this route

Austin means two airports here, and they sit on opposite sides of the city. Bergstrom is south east and shares its runways with the airlines; Austin Executive is north east and is quicker to get out of. On a 45 minute flight the drive at the far end is the longer half of the journey, so check which field a listing names before you plan around it.

Every leg we have on record for this route

Between 31 July and 17 October 2026 we recorded 11 empty legs from Fort Worth to Austin. 1 of them carried a published price, at USD 5,000 for the whole aircraft. Five of the eleven publish a block time, between 42 and 48 minutes, and ten publish a seat count, from seven to thirteen. The six Jet OUT legs give the aircraft and the seats and nothing else, and none of the eleven gives a tail number.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we saw on this corridor in that window, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

One of the eleven legs carries a published price, USD 5,000 for an eight seat Bombardier Challenger 300 on 8 October, listed by Jet Linx Aviation with a 42 minute block. That figure is for the whole aircraft exactly as the operator published it, and it is not a per seat fare or a from price.

The other ten publish nothing on price. Six are Jet OUT, which publishes no figure on any of its 876 listings on this board across 645 city pairs. Executive Air Services, Northeastern Aviation and Saturn Aviation publish none on anything they list here either. Jet Linx is the exception: it publishes a price on 356 of its 358 listings, which is why the single priced leg on this corridor is one of theirs.

Five of the eleven publish a block time, between 42 and 48 minutes, and ten of the eleven publish a seat count, between seven and thirteen. The six Jet OUT legs name the aircraft and the seats and nothing else, so the block figure on this page comes from the listings that do publish one.

Ask the operator which Austin field you are landing at, whether the departure time can still move, and what happens if the paid flight behind the positioning leg falls through.
