Why this route produces empty legs

Miami is the largest source of empty legs in our record, 495 departures to 170 destinations, and this is one of the shorter things it produces: about 285 nautical miles up the Florida coast, an hour and twelve minutes in the air.

Jacksonville is the thin end of this corridor and that is what shapes it. We hold 44 arrivals into Jacksonville from 20 origins against 35 departures to 27, so it is a small, roughly balanced node, and Miami is its largest partner inbound with six of the 44.

Three operators list on the six movements. Malone AirCharter has three, Call a Jet two and Jet OUT one. Malone is the one that publishes properly: a tail number, an airport code, a seat count and a block time on all three, and a price on two. Call a Jet gives a city, a date, a type and a seat count and never an airport or a price.

Four aircraft types and all of them light or midsize. A Bombardier Challenger 300 twice at nine seats, then a Cessna Citation CJ4, a Cessna Citation CJ3 twice and a Cessna Citation XLS+ at eight seats each. There is no heavy jet on this corridor in our record at all, which is unusual for anything leaving Miami.

When they show up

Six movements on six separate dates, in two clusters a month and a half apart. Three in August on 4, 5 and 15 August, then three on consecutive days, 24, 25 and 26 September. Nothing on this corridor is open at the time this page was built.

Notice was short on all six and shortest on the ones with prices. The 26 September Cessna Citation XLS+ went on the board the day it departed. The two Call a Jet Challenger 300 legs in early August were listed three and four days ahead, and the longest notice on the corridor was eight days. A route that produces three legs in three days and then nothing for weeks is one to set the alert on.

The route on a map

Approximate corridor between Miami and Jacksonville. Operators fly the sector direct; the airports each listing uses are shown on the flight itself.

The airports on this route

The Miami end splits between two airports and the Jacksonville end does not. Two listings leave Opa Locka Executive and two leave Miami International, which are about twelve miles apart on opposite sides of the city, and all four arrive at Jacksonville International. The two Call a Jet legs name no airport at either end. The distance here is measured from Opa Locka because that is the business aviation field and the one Miami departures use most often across our whole record.

Reading the record.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we have recorded on this corridor, read when you opened this page, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Miami to Jacksonville in the record

Every leg we have recorded between Miami and Jacksonville, in either direction, since 30 July 2026, whether it is still on the board or not. A leg leaves the board when the operator stops publishing it, and we cannot tell from outside whether it was sold or withdrawn, so these are counts of what was listed, not of what flew.

Legs by departure month

One bar per calendar month, from the first month in our record to the furthest date an operator has published so far. Grey bars are months already past, gold is this month and the months ahead. A blank month is a month we have no record for, and before August 2026 that means we were not yet recording. The months ahead hold only what operators have published up to now, and most empty legs appear days or weeks before departure, so those bars will keep growing. The shape says how far ahead operators publish, not how busy a month will be.

Each row is a pair of airports as the operator named them, in the direction flown. Both directions of the corridor are counted. An operator that names only the city leaves us the city, which is why some rows are city names.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

Two of the six carry a published price. USD 4,400 for the whole aircraft on an eight seat Cessna Citation CJ3, tail N406TX, leaving Miami International on 24 September, and USD 5,600 on an eight seat Cessna Citation XLS+, tail N427PM, leaving Opa Locka on 26 September. Both are Malone AirCharter.

The USD 1,200 between them is the aircraft rather than the date. Both are eight seat midsize jets on the same sector two days apart, and the XLS+ is the larger cabin of the two. That is as close to a like for like comparison as this corridor offers.

The other four say price on request. Malone listed the same CJ3, tail N406TX, on 25 September with no figure at all, the day after listing it with one, so even a single operator on a single aircraft does not always publish. Call a Jet publishes no price on anything in our record and Jet OUT did not price its one leg here.

All three Malone legs publish a block time and all three say an hour and twelve minutes. The Call a Jet and Jet OUT listings publish none, so three of the six rows below have no time in the air.

Jacksonville back to Miami is in our record but folds to too few movements for a page. Ask the operator which Miami field the aircraft is leaving from, whether the departure time can still move, and what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through.
