Why this route produces empty legs

San Antonio to Houston is about 165 nautical miles and all eight legs we have on record publish a block time, from 36 minutes on the Learjet 60 to an hour on the Pilatus PC-12. It is one of the short Texas sectors that produce empty legs steadily, because the aircraft based at one end spend their working days at the other.

Houston is the second largest destination out of San Antonio on our board, eight of the 86 legs we have recorded leaving San Antonio, behind Dallas on ten and ahead of Denver and Jackson Hole on five each.

Seen from Houston it is a small corridor into a very busy one. We hold 264 legs into Houston and eight of them leave San Antonio, far behind Dallas on 45, Austin on 30 and Fort Worth on 14. The Texas triangle is where the volume is and San Antonio sits just outside it.

It is also exactly symmetrical, which almost nothing on this board is: eight legs here and eight on Houston to San Antonio. Three operators appear in this direction, Jetvia on four legs, Lone Star Aviators on three and Jet Linx Aviation on one.

When they show up

Eight legs on five dates between 30 September and 6 November 2026, so this corridor arrives in clusters rather than a trickle. Three of the five dates carry two legs each.

Two of those pairs are fleet listings and one is not. On 1 and 16 October Jetvia listed two Learjet 60s on the same day at the same price, which is one operator offering two tails. On 18 October a Lone Star Aviators Citation Ultra and a Jet Linx Citation XLS were listed on the same day by different operators, which is two genuinely separate aircraft going the same way. Three of the eight were still on the board when this page was built, on 16 October, 18 October and 6 November.

The airports on this route

Hobby and Conroe are the same flight time from San Antonio and a very different drive at the far end: Hobby is on the south east edge of Houston, Conroe is about 40 miles north of downtown. On a 36 minute flight that drive is the longer half of the journey, so ask which field the leg lands at before you take it.

Every leg we have on record for this route

Between 31 July and 14 October 2026 we recorded 8 empty legs from San Antonio to Houston. All eight carried a published price, from USD 2,000 to USD 5,000 for the whole aircraft, and the four Jetvia Learjet 60 legs are all the same figure, USD 3,600. All eight publish a block time, a seat count and a tail number: 36 minutes on the four Learjet 60s, 42 on the two Citation Ultras and the Citation XLS, and an hour on the Pilatus PC-12 NG.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we saw on this corridor in that window, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Before you book

All eight legs carry a published price, from USD 2,000 to USD 5,000 for the whole aircraft. The lowest is a Pilatus PC-12 NG from Lone Star Aviators, the highest a Cessna Citation XLS from Jet Linx Aviation, and the four Jetvia Learjet 60s are all USD 3,600.

Every one of those figures is a standing price. Jetvia's USD 3,600 appears on 128 of its recorded listings across 68 different city pairs. Lone Star Aviators' USD 2,300, the figure on both of its Citation Ultra legs here, appears on 26 listings across 16 pairs, and its USD 2,000 on 20 listings across 13. The number is attached to the aircraft, not to this sector.

Lone Star Aviators publishes a price on all 548 listings we have recorded from it, and Jet Linx Aviation on 319 of its 321. On a corridor this short that matters more than usual: the whole aircraft price for 36 minutes is the same figure the same aircraft carries on far longer sectors.

Ask which Houston field you are landing at, whether the date and time can still move, and what happens if the paid flight that created the empty leg falls through. Prices here are in US dollars as the operator published them, for the whole aircraft, never per seat.
