One way empty legs between San Jose and Van Nuys, exactly as the operators list them. The operator confirms availability and the price with you directly.
Straight line distance between the two cities. Actual routing and flight time depend on the aircraft and the airports.
San Jose is a small node in our record and Van Nuys is most of it. Eleven recorded departures leave Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International for five different destinations and five of them come here, with nothing else reaching more than three. Coming the other way San Jose takes thirteen arrivals from four origins, seven from Camarillo and four from Van Nuys, so the whole of its private traffic in our data runs to and from Southern California.
Two operators listed the five and the split is uneven. Silver Air listed three, a Hawker 900XP twice and a Bombardier Challenger 350 once. XCEL JET listed the other two, both a Bombardier Lear 40XR with six seats. Van Nuys is the centre of Silver Air's board rather than an occasional stop: 52 of its 67 listings anywhere in our record have Van Nuys at one end.
Three aircraft types across five legs, and the block times split by airframe rather than by date. The Hawker 900XP and the Lear 40XR are listed at 1 hour on all four of their legs and the Challenger 350 at 54 minutes on its one, against a great circle of 255 nautical miles. Seats are published on every leg, at six, six, eight, eight and nine.
One of the five is a long way out. Four depart inside a fortnight, between 15 and 27 September 2026, and the fifth is 28 December, 107 days after the day it was listed. Everything else on this corridor was posted for a date inside three weeks.
In a tight September cluster and then one winter date. Four of the five depart between 15 and 27 September 2026 and the fifth on 28 December.
The whole corridor as we know it was posted inside a fortnight. Every one of the five listings entered our record between 1 and 12 September 2026. Measured from that day to departure, the notice was 7, 6, 19, 16 and 107 days, so four of the five gave under three weeks and the route alert is worth more than checking this page.
Approximate corridor between San Jose and Van Nuys. Operators fly the sector direct; the airports each listing uses are shown on the flight itself.
Every one of the five listings names San Jose International and Van Nuys by ICAO code, so the computed distance on this page uses the pair the operators use. San Jose is a name our sources also apply to San Jose in Costa Rica and to San Jose del Cabo in Mexico, so this page reads only the listings that carry the California codes, and the live board above will not show you a flight from either of the others.

Every leg we have recorded between San Jose and Van Nuys, in either direction, since 30 July 2026, whether it is still on the board or not. A leg leaves the board when the operator stops publishing it, and we cannot tell from outside whether it was sold or withdrawn, so these are counts of what was listed, not of what flew.
One bar per calendar month, from the first month in our record to the furthest date an operator has published so far. Grey bars are months already past, gold is this month and the months ahead. A blank month is a month we have no record for, and before August 2026 that means we were not yet recording. The months ahead hold only what operators have published up to now, and most empty legs appear days or weeks before departure, so those bars will keep growing. The shape says how far ahead operators publish, not how busy a month will be.

Each row is a pair of airports as the operator named them, in the direction flown. Both directions of the corridor are counted. An operator that names only the city leaves us the city, which is why some rows are city names.
The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.
No leg on this corridor carries a published price. All five say price on request, so the figure comes from the operator when you ask and we show nothing rather than guess.
That is the operators rather than a gap in our collection. Silver Air publishes no price on any of its 67 listings in our record and XCEL JET none on any of its 31. Both do publish a seat count and a block time on every leg here, so those two columns are filled on all five rows.
We have recorded four legs coming back from Van Nuys to San Jose, below our bar for a page of its own, so there is no reverse page yet. The corridor runs both ways and the same two operators list both halves, so ask about the return as well as the outbound.
Ask the operator three things: whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and which cabin is actually assigned, because six seats on the Lear 40XR and nine on the Challenger 350 are different aircraft on the same hour in the air.
San Jose to Van Nuys empty legs are posted days ahead, not months. Leave your email and we watch both directions for you, San Jose to Van Nuys and Van Nuys to San Jose, and send you nothing else.
