One way empty legs between Van Nuys and San Jose, exactly as the operators list them. The operator confirms availability and the price with you directly.
Straight line distance between the two cities. Actual routing and flight time depend on the aircraft and the airports.
San Jose takes its private traffic from two Southern California fields and almost nowhere else. Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International has recorded arrivals on 23 dates from 13 origins, and 18 of those dates come from just two of them: Camarillo on 11 and Van Nuys on 7. No third origin reaches more than two dates.
From the Van Nuys end this is a mid sized corner of a very large book. Van Nuys produces departures on 48 recorded dates to 37 different destinations, led by Teterboro on 16 and San Francisco on 9. San Jose is third on 7, ahead of Oakland on 6.
Three operators listed the eight rows in the table and one of them did most of it. Silver Air listed six, a Cessna Citation CJ3 once, a Beechcraft Hawker 900XP three times and a Bombardier Global Express twice. Hera Flight listed one, a Gulfstream GIV, and XCEL JET one, a Bombardier Lear 40XR. Van Nuys is the centre of Silver Air's board rather than an occasional stop, 90 of its 122 listings anywhere in our record have Van Nuys at one end. Hera Flight is the opposite, 1 of 186, so its leg here reads as a one off rather than part of a pattern.
Every row publishes a block time, and they split by airframe rather than by date. The Gulfstream GIV is listed at 58 minutes, the Hawker 900XP and Global Express rows at 1 hour, and the Citation CJ3 and the Lear 40XR at 1 hour 6 minutes, against a great circle of 255 nautical miles. Seats are published on every row and they spread further than the times do, from six on the Lear 40XR to fourteen on the GIV.
In September pairs, and then two dates a long way out. Six of the eight rows fall between 1 and 23 September 2026, two of them on consecutive days in the middle of the month and two more on consecutive days at the end of it. The remaining two are 3 November and 9 December.
Notice on this corridor is either nothing at all or months. Measured from the day each listing entered our record to its departure, the five distinct aircraft gave 0, 0, 10, 42 and 88 days. Two of them appeared on the morning they flew, which is why the route alert is worth more here than checking this page.
Approximate corridor between Van Nuys and San Jose. Operators fly the sector direct; the airports each listing uses are shown on the flight itself.
Every listing we hold on this corridor names Van Nuys and San Jose International by ICAO code, KVNY and KSJC, so the distance computed on this page is the distance between those two fields. San Jose is a name our sources also apply to San Jose in Costa Rica and to San Jose del Cabo in Mexico, and the label they publish for the California field is the bare city name, so the live board above matches on that name rather than on the code. Every San Jose leg we have recorded out of Van Nuys is the California one, but check the code on the listing itself before you enquire. Two things in the table are worth reading carefully. The Hawker 900XP appears twice on 11 September, which is one listing recorded twice, once when it first appeared and again after it left the board and came back. And two pairs look like one aircraft carried forward a day rather than two departures, the Hawker 900XP on 11 and 12 September and the Global Express on 22 and 23 September, in each case the earlier date leaving the board the same day the later one appeared. That is eight rows, seven distinct listings, and five separate aircraft movements on the strictest reading. All of them stay in the table because all of them were listed.

Every leg we have recorded between Van Nuys and San Jose, in either direction, since 30 July 2026, whether it is still on the board or not. A leg leaves the board when the operator stops publishing it, and we cannot tell from outside whether it was sold or withdrawn, so these are counts of what was listed, not of what flew.
One bar per calendar month, from the first month in our record to the furthest date an operator has published so far. Grey bars are months already past, gold is this month and the months ahead. A blank month is a month we have no record for, and before August 2026 that means we were not yet recording. The months ahead hold only what operators have published up to now, and most empty legs appear days or weeks before departure, so those bars will keep growing. The shape says how far ahead operators publish, not how busy a month will be.

Each row is a pair of airports as the operator named them, in the direction flown. Both directions of the corridor are counted. An operator that names only the city leaves us the city, which is why some rows are city names.
The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.
No leg on this corridor carries a published price. Every row says price on request, so the figure comes from the operator when you ask and we show nothing rather than guess.
That is the operators rather than a gap in our collection, and it is true of all three of them. Silver Air publishes no price on any of its 122 listings in our record, Hera Flight none on any of its 186 and XCEL JET none on any of its 55. Between them that is 363 listings and not one figure.
Seats and block times go the other way. Every row publishes both, so the money column is the only one the operators leave blank on this corridor. Those cabins are not interchangeable at those seat counts: six on the Lear 40XR and fourteen on the Gulfstream GIV are different aircraft on roughly the same hour in the air, so ask which one is actually assigned.
The reverse direction is already published. San Jose to Van Nuys carries its own record, and Silver Air and XCEL JET list both halves of the pair. Ask the operator three things: whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and which Bay Area field you are actually landing at.
Van Nuys to San Jose empty legs are posted days ahead, not months. Leave your email and we watch both directions for you, Van Nuys to San Jose and San Jose to Van Nuys, and send you nothing else.
