Why this route produces empty legs

Opa Locka Executive is the departure on all nine legs here, and Palm Beach International, which our rows carry as both KPBI and KDJT, is the arrival on seven of them. The sector is about 50 nautical miles and seven of the nine listings publish the same block time, twenty four minutes.

Nobody buys this as a journey. Fifty nautical miles up the coast is a drive, and a twenty four minute block means the aircraft is barely at cruise before it starts down. What these nine legs are is repositioning: aircraft that finished a charter at one end of South Florida and are wanted at the other.

Miami is the largest origin into West Palm Beach on our board, ten of the arrivals we have recorded, ahead of Pittsburgh at seven and Teterboro at six. The reverse is much thinner: West Palm Beach to Miami has five legs, all from one operator.

Two operators and four aircraft types, but one operator dominates. Executive Air Services posted seven of the nine, including the same Gulfstream G-IVSP on four consecutive days from 16 to 19 October, and Jet Story posted the other two with a Bombardier Global 5000. Boca Raton, between the two cities, is a separate eight leg corridor out of Miami on this board rather than a stop on this one.

When they show up

Nine legs on eight dates between 27 September and 22 December 2026. Seven of them fall in the three and a half weeks from 27 September to 22 October, four of those on consecutive days from 16 to 19 October, and then one sits alone in December.

One was still on the board when this page was built, 22 October. Seven have flown and one, 22 December, was withdrawn before its departure date.

The airports on this route

Both ends are settled in practice: every departure is Opa Locka and every arrival is Palm Beach International under one code or the other. On a fifty mile sector the thing worth asking about is not which airport but when, because the aircraft is repositioning and its slot moves with the paid charter that created it.

Every leg we have on record for this route

Between 31 July and 20 October 2026 we recorded 9 empty legs from Miami to West Palm Beach. None of them carried a published price: every operator on this corridor lists it on request. Seven of the nine publish a block time and all seven give the same figure, twenty four minutes. All nine publish a seat count, from seven on the Beechjet 400A legs to fourteen on the two Global 5000s.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we saw on this corridor in that window, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Before you book

No operator on this corridor publishes a price. All nine legs say price on request, so the figure comes from the operator when you ask, and we show nothing rather than guess.

That is the two operators' practice rather than anything about this route. Executive Air Services publishes no figure on any of its 465 listings on this board, and Jet Story none on any of its 38. There is nothing here to compare even in principle.

Every leg does publish a seat count, which is unusual here: seven on each of the two Beechjet 400A legs, nine on the Gulfstream G200, thirteen on each of the four G-IVSP legs and fourteen on both Global 5000s. Seven of the nine also publish the twenty four minute block.

Ask what the aircraft is doing either side of a fifty mile hop, whether the departure time can still move, and what happens if the paid flight that created the empty leg falls through.
