Why this route produces empty legs

Ottawa is the narrowest node on our whole board, and this is what it mostly does. We have recorded nine departures from Ottawa to only four destinations, and five of the nine came to Toronto. The other three are Hamilton on two, Naples on one and Teterboro on one. Arrivals are almost as narrow: eleven from six origins. There is no third Ottawa corridor of any size.

From the Toronto end it is one line among many. Toronto has taken 132 recorded arrivals from 51 different origins, led by Teterboro on eighteen, Sault Ste Marie on sixteen across the two spellings our sources use, and Montreal on thirteen. Ottawa is joint fifth on five, level with Westhampton Beach. The sector is 195 nautical miles.

One operator holds the entire corridor. Every one of the five legs is Chartright Air Group, and no second operator appears on this direction anywhere in our record. Chartright does fly three different types here, a Bombardier Challenger 605 twice, a Bombardier Challenger 604 once and a Cessna Citation Ultra twice, so the cabin swings from seven seats to twelve depending on which one you catch.

The prices are published and they split cleanly by aircraft, which is unusual and useful. Both Citation Ultra legs say CAD 5,500 and the Challenger 604 says CAD 9,000, while the October Challenger 605 says CAD 9,500. Only the August Challenger 605 carries no figure. That is four of five priced, a better ratio than most corridors on this site manage.

When they show up

In ones across two months, never in bunches. The five legs fall on 28 August, 20, 24 and 29 September and 29 October 2026, no two of them on the same date. Three have already flown and two are still on the board.

Notice runs from four days to seven weeks. Measured from the day each listing entered our record to its departure, the five gave 4, 6, 11, 15 and 48 days. The 29 September Citation Ultra came in on 25 September, four days ahead, and the 29 October Challenger 605 has been up since 11 September. Half of this corridor gives you about a week, so the route alert is the only way to catch the short notice half.

The airports on this route

Every one of the five listings names Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier and Toronto Pearson, so the computed distance on this page uses the pair the operators themselves publish, with no ambiguity at either end. Two further Chartright rows on this corridor carry a price and a seat count but no departure date at all, so they are not in the table below and not in the count.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we have recorded on this corridor, read when you opened this page, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Ottawa to Toronto in the record

Every leg we have recorded between Ottawa and Toronto, in either direction, since 30 July 2026, whether it is still on the board or not. A leg leaves the board when the operator stops publishing it, and we cannot tell from outside whether it was sold or withdrawn, so these are counts of what was listed, not of what flew.

Legs by departure month

One bar per calendar month, from the first month in our record to the furthest date an operator has published so far. Grey bars are months already past, gold is this month and the months ahead. A blank month is a month we have no record for, and before August 2026 that means we were not yet recording. The months ahead hold only what operators have published up to now, and most empty legs appear days or weeks before departure, so those bars will keep growing. The shape says how far ahead operators publish, not how busy a month will be.

Each row is a pair of airports as the operator named them, in the direction flown. Both directions of the corridor are counted. An operator that names only the city leaves us the city, which is why some rows are city names.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

Four of the five carry a published price and all four are the operator figure for the whole aircraft, not a per seat fare: CAD 5,500 on each of the two Cessna Citation Ultra legs, CAD 9,000 on the Bombardier Challenger 604 and CAD 9,500 on the October Bombardier Challenger 605. The August Challenger 605 says price on request.

The two prices worth putting side by side are CAD 5,500 and CAD 9,500 on the same 195 nautical miles. The cheaper figure buys a seven seat Citation Ultra and the dearer one a twelve seat Challenger 605, so on this corridor the number in front of you is mostly telling you how big the cabin is.

Every one of the five publishes a block time: 48 minutes on the three Challenger legs and 54 minutes on the two Citation Ultra legs. Not one of the five publishes a tail number, so the operator and the type are all you get about the airframe before you ask.

Ask the operator three things: whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and which aircraft is actually going, since the same operator is charging CAD 4,000 more for the larger cabin over identical ground.
