Why this route produces empty legs

Teterboro is the New York business aviation gateway and the busiest node on our board, 365 departures to 124 destinations. Chicago is one of them, about 625 nautical miles west, and the listings put it at an hour and 48 minutes to an hour and 54 minutes in the air.

Every one of the six movements goes to the same airport, Chicago Executive in Wheeling and Prospect Heights, about 25 miles north west of the Loop. Not O'Hare, not Midway. On a corridor where both ends usually have a choice of fields, this one does not vary at all.

All six carry a tail number, an airport code, a seat count and a block time, which makes this one of the most completely documented corridors on the site. No row below is missing anything except a price on three of them.

Three operators list here. Jetvia has three legs on two different Bombardier Learjet 60s, Aircraft Services Group has two on a single Cessna Citation CJ4 and SC Aviation has one Beechcraft Hawker 850XP. The Aircraft Services Group aircraft, tail N2020, also turns up on our Cleveland to Teterboro corridor in December, so this is one small fleet working several routes rather than a dedicated shuttle.

When they show up

Six movements across a month, with almost all of it in one week. One on 8 September, then five between 3 and 7 October 2026. Four separate dates inside five days.

Notice is short and consistent. Every one of the six was listed between the day of departure and nine days before it. The 8 September Hawker 850XP went on the board the day it left. Nothing on this corridor has ever been listed more than nine days ahead in our record, so the route alert is the only reliable way to catch one.

The route on a map

The airports on this route

Chicago Executive is the arrival on every listing here and it is not a central airport. It sits about 25 miles north west of the Loop, which is convenient for the northern suburbs and Lake County and a long drive from anywhere south of downtown. Worth knowing before you book, because nothing on this corridor lands closer in.

Reading the record.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we have recorded on this corridor, read when you opened this page, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Teterboro to Chicago in the record

Every leg we have recorded between Teterboro and Chicago, in either direction, since 30 July 2026, whether it is still on the board or not. A leg leaves the board when the operator stops publishing it, and we cannot tell from outside whether it was sold or withdrawn, so these are counts of what was listed, not of what flew.

Legs by departure month

One bar per calendar month, from the first month in our record to the furthest date an operator has published so far. Grey bars are months already past, gold is this month and the months ahead. A blank month is a month we have no record for, and before August 2026 that means we were not yet recording. The months ahead hold only what operators have published up to now, and most empty legs appear days or weeks before departure, so those bars will keep growing. The shape says how far ahead operators publish, not how busy a month will be.

Each row is a pair of airports as the operator named them, in the direction flown. Both directions of the corridor are counted. An operator that names only the city leaves us the city, which is why some rows are city names.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

Three of the six carry a published price and all three are the identical USD 13,800 for the whole aircraft. They are Jetvia Bombardier Learjet 60s, tail N317MP on 3 and 4 October and tail N420KV on 4 October as well.

Read that as a rate card rather than a corridor rate. Jetvia publishes a price on nearly everything it lists and every aircraft it lists anywhere in our record is a Learjet 60, so three identical figures on two airframes is what its pricing looks like on a 625 nautical mile sector.

The three legs with no price are the other two operators. Aircraft Services Group listed a six seat Cessna Citation CJ4, tail N2020, on 6 and 7 October, and SC Aviation an eight seat Beechcraft Hawker 850XP, tail N921PK, on 8 September. Neither priced what it listed here, so those figures come from the operator when you ask and we show nothing rather than guess.

The cabins are all small. Seven seats on the three Learjet 60s, six on the Citation CJ4 and eight on the Hawker 850XP. There is no heavy jet on this corridor in our record, which on a 625 nautical mile sector is simply what the aircraft that happen to reposition it are.

Chicago back to Teterboro exists in our record at five movements and has no page yet. Ask the operator whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and whether Chicago Executive is the field you want, because it is the only one this corridor uses.
