Why this route produces empty legs

San Jose is the fifth busiest destination Las Vegas produces on our board, behind Van Nuys, Aspen, Scottsdale and Denver, out of 321 recorded departures from Las Vegas to 95 destinations. Eleven movements in seven weeks is a steady trickle rather than a schedule.

The traffic is almost entirely one fleet. Thrive Aviation supplies nine of the eleven movements and Prestige Air Group the other two, so this is not many operators competing on the same sector, it is one operator repositioning a large and varied fleet plus one small aircraft that publishes a flat price. The honest reading is that nine of the eleven rows below tell you the type and the date and nothing else.

What the fleet does give you is range of aircraft. Nine different types on eleven movements, from a six seat Beechcraft Premier up to a Gulfstream G450 and a Bombardier Challenger 604, with a Learjet 60XR, a Learjet 40XR, a Citation Sovereign+, a Citation Longitude and an Embraer Praetor 500 in between. That is the widest spread of types on any corridor of this size we publish.

The flow runs out of Las Vegas: eleven movements this way against seven coming back. San Jose is a small node on the whole board, 25 recorded departures to 15 destinations and 29 arrivals from 15 origins, so the Las Vegas pair is a large share of everything that touches it. We publish Van Nuys to San Jose and Camarillo to San Jose as well, and San Jose to Van Nuys in the other direction.

When they show up

Eleven movements between 14 August and 29 September 2026, clustered rather than spread: eight of the eleven fall in the four weeks from 2 to 29 September. Ten have already flown and one is still on the board.

3 September is the only date on this corridor carrying two separate aircraft, a Gulfstream G450 and an Embraer Praetor 500, both from Thrive and both listed independently. Every other date carries one. Notice is short at this end of the fleet: the 29 September Learjet 40XR entered our record on 26 September, three days before departure.

The route on a map

Approximate corridor between Las Vegas and San Jose. Operators fly the sector direct; the airports each listing uses are shown on the flight itself.

The airports on this route

Only the two Prestige Air Group listings name airports at all, and both say Henderson Executive to San Jose International, so that is the pair the distance above uses. The nine Thrive Aviation listings name the two cities and no field, so if you are flying one of those, ask which Las Vegas field it leaves from. Henderson is quicker on the ground and further from the Strip.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we have recorded on this corridor, read when you opened this page, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Las Vegas to San Jose in the record

Every leg we have recorded between Las Vegas and San Jose, in either direction, since 30 July 2026, whether it is still on the board or not. A leg leaves the board when the operator stops publishing it, and we cannot tell from outside whether it was sold or withdrawn, so these are counts of what was listed, not of what flew.

Legs by departure month

One bar per calendar month, from the first month in our record to the furthest date an operator has published so far. Grey bars are months already past, gold is this month and the months ahead. A blank month is a month we have no record for, and before August 2026 that means we were not yet recording. The months ahead hold only what operators have published up to now, and most empty legs appear days or weeks before departure, so those bars will keep growing. The shape says how far ahead operators publish, not how busy a month will be.

Each row is a pair of airports as the operator named them, in the direction flown. Both directions of the corridor are counted. An operator that names only the city leaves us the city, which is why some rows are city names.

Before you book

The price on a card is the operator's figure for the whole aircraft. What that comes to per seat, across every type we see, is in how much an empty leg private jet costs.

Two of the eleven carry a published price and both are the same figure, USD 4,000 for the whole aircraft. That is a Prestige Air Group rate rather than a Las Vegas to San Jose rate: the operator publishes USD 4,000 on 72 of the 74 listings we hold for it, across five airframes and block times from 30 minutes to 2 hours 18 minutes. Here it buys a six seat Beechcraft Premier, tail N969RE on 18 September and tail N22VK on 24 September.

Those two are also the only listings with a block time, and they disagree with each other: 1 hour 6 minutes on the first and 1 hour 18 minutes on the second, over the same 340 nautical miles in the same type. Treat a published block time as the operator's estimate, not a timetable.

The same aircraft type is spelled two ways in the table below, Premier 1A and Beechcraft Premier IA, because that is how the operator spelled it on the two listings. We show what was published rather than quietly normalising it.

The nine Thrive Aviation legs publish no price, no seat count, no tail number and no block time, so nine rows read Not stated in three columns. That is what the operator published. Ask the operator three things: whether the departure time can still move, what happens if the paid flight that created this empty leg falls through, and which Las Vegas field the aircraft is leaving from.
