Calgary to Regina and back is the Excel's signature on this board, with Scottsdale to Calgary the winter variation. It is a western Canadian regular with a scattering across the United States and Europe. The Challenger 300 and Global 5000 work the same Calgary and Regina pairing, so if that is your route there are three types to watch.
Most aircraft on this site arrive without a figure attached. The Excel is one of the exceptions: a meaningful share of its legs carry the operator's published price, which is why it appears in the seat cost analysis in how much an empty leg costs when many larger types do not. Introduced in 1996, the Excel combined the wide, stand up fuselage of the Citation X with the straight wing and short field manners of the Ultra, and gave Cessna a midsize jet at a light jet price. It became one of the best selling business jets ever made and evolved into the XLS in 2004 and the XLS+ in 2008, both of which are still in production.
