Why this route produces empty legs

Palm Springs to Calgary is about 1,045 nautical miles, and the legs here publish block times of two hours 24 to two hours 42. It is a desert to prairie sector with nothing much in between, which is why every aircraft on it is a midsize or large cabin jet rather than something that would need a fuel stop.

Calgary is the second largest destination Palm Springs has on our board, and the gap to third is enormous. Las Vegas leads and Calgary is second. Third place is Scottsdale, with three recorded legs. Between them Las Vegas and Calgary account for most of what Palm Springs produces at all.

Seen from Calgary this is one of only two American origins that matter. Calgary's inbound traffic on our board is domestic first: Vancouver at twenty four recorded legs, Regina at fifteen, Kelowna and Edmonton at twelve each. The two American origins that break into that list are Scottsdale at eleven and Palm Springs just behind it, both of them desert cities, which tells you what the Calgary aircraft are doing in the southwest.

All three operators are Canadian and all four tail numbers in our record are Canadian registered. Chartright Air Group has three of the seven legs, and Sunwest Aviation and Air Partners two each. The aircraft live in Alberta, fly south on a paid trip and list the northbound half empty.

Both directions, up to 20 flights, with the price exactly as the operator published it.

When they show up

Seven legs on seven dates between 17 October and 18 December 2026, six of them in a three week burst from 17 October to 5 November and then nothing until 18 December. That is a cluster rather than a schedule.

Four of the seven were still on the board when this page was built, 17 October, 30 October, 31 October and 18 December. On a corridor that produces roughly one leg a week in season, the route alert is worth more than checking the page.

The airports on this route

Six of these legs leave from Palm Springs International and one from the Thermal field twenty five miles down the valley, so the drive at the departure end is not the same on every listing. Calgary International is the only arrival we have recorded, which for an international arrival is what you would expect.

Every leg we have on record for this route

Between 31 July and 11 October 2026 we recorded 7 empty legs from Palm Springs to Calgary. Four of them carried a published price, from CAD 17,400 to CAD 23,600 for the whole aircraft. The three that say on request are the two Air Partners legs, from an operator that publishes no prices at all, and one Chartright Falcon. All seven publish a block time, two hours 24 to two hours 42, and all seven publish a seat count of eight to ten. Four of the seven publish a tail number and all four are Canadian registered.

This is a record, not availability. These are the legs we saw on this corridor in that window, kept so the route has a history you can judge it by. None of them is bookable from this table. What is actually open right now is the live list above, and if it is empty the route alert is the way to catch the next one.

Before you book

Four of the seven legs carry a published price, from CAD 17,400 to CAD 23,600 for the whole aircraft. The two Sunwest Learjet 45XRs are CAD 17,400 each, the Chartright Challenger 300 on 17 October is CAD 21,200 and the Chartright Falcon 2000LX on 1 November is CAD 23,600. The price tracks cabin size in the order you would expect.

Sunwest prices everything it lists and prices it individually. It publishes a figure on all 129 listings we have from it, using 62 different numbers, and the CAD 17,400 here appears three times across two airport pairs. Chartright publishes a price on 582 of its 720 listings using 87 figures. Neither is repeating a single standing number across the board.

Air Partners publishes nothing. Its two legs here, the Citation X on 31 October and the Falcon 2000 on 18 December, say on request, and that holds for all 92 listings we have recorded from it. The absence of a figure on those two rows is the operator's policy, not a gap in our record.

Ask the operator which valley field you are leaving from, whether the departure time can still move, and what happens if the paid flight that created the empty leg falls through. The prices are quoted in Canadian dollars by Canadian operators and are for the whole aircraft.
